Spring in Australia (English version)

There are many, extremely talented Brazilians in Australia, who manifest themselves in different cultural arenas, and we are fully aware of the hardships of trying to get your work seen and making a living from it, since the support is practically null.

About a month ago, we had a photo expo about Winter in Sydney here on the blog, and the amount of contributions was fantastic. Now, the idea is to go beyond the pictures, and possibly, the virtual realm.

Primavera Australia by Júlio Araujo

We’re going to organize the First Virtual Expo of Brazilians (and Brazilian culture enthusiasts) in Australia. The theme: Spring in Australia. Within that concept, anyone, from any part of the country, can enter their works to be published on a big post here on the blog.

For now, we have the following confirmed:
- Theme song
- Photos
- Video
- Gastronomical recipes
- Wine recommendations
- A whole Vibez Brazil show (Eastside Radio) dedicated to the theme
- Comics
- Fashion

We’d also like to add:
- Short stories
- Poems
- Paintings
- Illustrations
- Graphic and digital art
- And of course, more photos, videos, songs, recipes, and anything else related to Spring in Australia.

After all these works get put up on the blog, there is the possibility of taking it all to a “real” location, and holding a sort of multimedia expo, including music, exhibitions, wine-tasting and whatever else comes our way. It would be the embryo of a much bigger project, which we’re working hard to make happen.

But for now, we’ll focus on whatever can be posted to the blog. That’s, actually, the first thing to keep in mind when creating whatever artwork you’re considering.

The deadline for submissions is October 31. When submitting please write something relevant in the title, otherwise I’ll think it’s a virus, and will delete it. Send submissions to pablonacer@terra.com.br.

And just to make sure you all understand this is for real, the photo above is of edible flowers, made from a recipe specifically developed for this project, and the above song: Primavera Australia was composed and recorded by Julio Araújo with Armando Manduka on guitar (both from the band: Vote for Mary).

So, who’s in?
